(b. 1961) Spanish film and television actor, director and playwright. Founder of the group Riesgo, for which he wrote and directed for many years. In 1996, together with Alberto San Juan he co-founded the group Animalario, for which he directed his own play Pornografía Barata (2001), as well as Alejandro y Ana (2003) and Penumbra (2011) by Mayorga and Cavestany, Weiss’s Marat Sade (2007), Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus and Pinter’s The Dumb Waiter (2012). He has directed and performed in many theatres, both in Spain and abroad. His last production was Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor at the Comédie Française in Paris (2010) and Przybyszewka’s The Danton Case at the Göteborg Stadsteater (2013).
He has acted in many films, including Miloša Forman’s Goya’s Ghosts.
He was a fellow of London’s Royal Court Theatre. In 2005 he and Animalario received the National Award for the best theatre group. Over the past seven years he has received more than twenty Max theatre awards (2005-2009).
